Instructions to Create and Transfer a SMARTCASTER Database from DPD to the SMARTCASTER

From DPD, please select Library.

A dropdown menu appears.

Select SMARTCASTER DB

A dialog box appears containing options related to creating and exporting a SMARTCASTER database.

Please select Reset Smartcaster Database

The dialog-box will disappear.

Select Library again.

The dropdown menu appears again.

Select SMARTCASTER DB again.

The create/export database dialog box re-appears, although this time, the Reset Smartcaster Database button is disabled.

Select UPDATE

The Smartcaster Database is now being created. You should see a red progress bar indicating how much has been created. Once finished, the dialog box will disappear.

One last time, select Library

The dropdown box appears.

Select SMARTCASTER DB

The dialog-box re-appears.

Now, using the Drive and Path boxes (on the left side of the SMARTCASTER DATABASE EXPORT Dialog box), please navigate to the drive and folder to which you wish to save the SMARTCASTER database.

You will see the paths change as you select the destination drive. When you double-click on the folder name, the folder icon changes from a closed folder to an open one. This indicates that you have selected that folder as your destination (or are in the process of selecting one of that folder's descendants).

Your choice is further confirmed when you see a list of database file names containing the word "Musicdat" appear in the file list box (in the middle of the SMARTCASTER DATABASE EXPORT dialog box). Please note: This list will not appear the first time the database is created.

Please note: At this point, it is important that the SMARTCASTER not be in the Live Show screen. When the Live show screen is active, the database file is open. This can cause several "sharing" errors when both DPD and SMARTCASTER are competing with each other for access to the database. Please exit the live show screen while we do this next step.

Now, once your SMARTCASTER is not in the live show, please click EXPORT on the DPD screen.

No changes take place on the screen, but the system might pause briefly while the database file is copied over to its final destination.

Please click CANCEL to close this screen.

The dialog box disappears. The database is created and exported.

You are now clear to re-enter the live show screen.
