The Date Conversion Utility

The X9 and Y9 versions of software are the first ones to accept end dates past 12/31/99. To make the transition easier for everyone, we've written a little program that you can run to change all your dates at once. The program only takes a few minutes to run, but you have to have another audio source on the air while you do it. This only works on Smartcaster software X9-03-18, X9-05-05, X9-05-06, X9-06-18 or Y9-07-28.

1. The first thing that you need to do before you run the date conversion utility is to check to see where the indexes on your computer are stored. If you go to the About screen, which is located below Yes and No on the Quit menu, you can find the path of the indexes. It is on the right hand box. All you really need is the drive letter where the indexes are stored.
2. Press Escape to exit this screen then pick Yes from under the Quit menu to quit out of the Smartcaster software. Be aware that a different audio source needs to be on air while you do this.
3. If you get to the Supermenu, press the Escape key to get out to the C: prompt.
4. At the C prompt, type dateconv then press Enter.
5. At this point you will see a red brick screen appear. It asks you to type in the drive letter that has the indexes. Type the letter and press Enter.
6. Next, it will ask you for the date to convert from. It will convert from any date to any date. For example, 12/30/99 is the date that most station's until further notice cuts use.
7. Then it will ask you for the date to convert to. Any date before 2070, such as 12/30/10, works okay.
8. It will then tell you that you are about to switch all the 12/30/99 dates to 12/30/30 and ask if it's okay to proceed. If it is, type Y.
9. Next, it will convert all the end dates to the new one.
10. When it gets done, it will put you at a C: prompt. Type go then press Enter to get back to the Supermenu.
