So You've Got A Broken Breaklog...


This is for people who transfer their breaklogs to the Smartcaster via floppy. Sometimes the transfer doesn't work properly, so the computer shows a grey error message screen.

Getting the Smartcaster back up on the air is relatively easy, though.

  1. Start by rebooting the system.
  2. When the screen comes up that says "Press any key or the Smartcaster will autostart in 9...8..." press the space bar.
  3. Hit the ESC key to escape to the C prompt.
  4. Type psetup then press ENTER.
  5. Item one is the breaklog path. It's best to write it down. It's usually, but not always C:\AUDIO.
  6. Hit ESC to get to the C prompt again.
  7. Type cd audio then press ENTER to change directories to the one in which the breaklogs are stored.
  8. Put the disk in with the logs on it. Type A: then press ENTER.
  9. Type this: copy breaklog.sun C:\AUDIO then press ENTER
  10. The machine will ask you, Overwrite? Y/N
  11. Type Y for yes.
  12. Now it will say "One file copied."
  13. Type C: then press ENTER
  14. Type Go then press ENTER
  15. Pick number 1 for Smartcaster.
