FALL TRAINING CLASS…

YOU CAN MANDATE A CERTAIN ACCOUNT NUMBER…(SG Users)

We invite SMARTS - the Second Generation users to attend our Fall Training Class, held here in Iowa October 18 and 19.  A registration form is attached to this newsletter.  We will go thoroughly through the system and explain each option.  We also have a good time in the

process!  If you have never traveled by yourself before, Emmetsburg, IA is a good safe place to visit!  Cost for the two-day session is $150.00 per person.  Please consider coming--not only do you learn from us, you learn from other traffic operators.

When you enter a new account into the system through Setup/Database/Account Setup, the system automatically assigns the next available number.  However, you can, if you need to, mandate a particular account number.  To do this, after you click on Add New, double click on the account number.  An advisory appears, saying  CHANGING ACCOUNT NUMBERS MUST BE DONE ONLY FOR NEW ACCOUNTS, OR ACCOUNTS WITH NO ACTIVITY.  Answer the question "Yes", and you are then allowed to type in your account number for the new account.  Again, the best plan is to allow the system to assign numbers, but occasionally you may have to override that feature.

STOP--DON'T CHANGE THAT DATE!!!  (V-7 USERS)

In Station Setup there is an option to change date.  Don't even think of touching that, unless you are in a country other than the US and have to set the date to be something other than month-day-year, which is the intent of the option.  One of our Florida operators entered a date, in an attempt to change her co op affidavits without rates to read 2000 rather than 1900.  She had disastrous results--she couldn't generate a log, edit or

ders or a couple of other necessary things til we figured out what had happened.  So raise your right hand and promise you will never touch the date option in Station Setup.  The correct files for the Co op affidavits were distributed and hopefully installed in the fall of 1999, before the need for 2000.  If yours didn't get installed, call the Support line and we will send you the correct file.

AVAILABLE
ACCOUNT LIST…
(SG Users)

DON'T CALL IN AN AFTER HOUR
EMERGENCY AND THEN LEAVE
THE STATION…

If you have been on the system a while, and have deleted old accounts, you may print out a list of available account numbers.  The list is found in Setup/Database/Account Setup/Utilities/Available Account Numbers.  It will print out a list of the numbers, with a line beside the number.  Account assignments may be written in and later entered into the computer.

Please don't place an emergency call after hours, and then leave the station.  As I write this, I am waiting on such a call.  An emergency was declared 30 minutes ago.  I called the station.  The operator had left.  I waited another 20 minutes and called the station again.  The operator still had not returned.  No one else at

the station knew the nature of the emergency.  We are happy to help with a true emergency, but please don't place such a call and then leave us hanging.  At least inform someone else at the station of the call.  It is much appreciated.
