SMARTS SPRING TRAINING APRIL 19 AND 20…

PUT THE INTERNET ON YOUR OFFICE
COMPUTER...

It is of great value to be able to send us your data for evaluation.  SMARTS--the Second Generation offers an easy option to FTP to our secure server, but only if you have Internet on that computer, or are networked to a computer that does.  We can have your data in about 30 minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection, and can help you with your support problem much easier when we can SEE your problem.  Alternatives are to backup your data onto a Zip disk and send us that disk.

A California station, with a new operator, told us they understood that only Cut A could be used for co op spots.  Wrong!  Cuts A thru Z may be used.  We find that, with operator turnover, and no re-

training, rumors like this get handed down from person to person at a station.  If you are a Version 7 user, and have been told something that doesn't make sense, please call the Support line and ask your question.  We may be able to help you do your job easier.

NEW VERSION OF SMARTS--THE SECOND GENERATION...

You may check our web page periodically, and download a new version of SMARTS--the Second Generation.  We post a new version about every two weeks.  The web page address is www.smartsbroadcast.com/secgen  .  Many of you have made suggestions to enhance the program, and we are at the point of implementing some of those suggestions.

IT IS TIME FOR THE BACKUP SERMON AGAIN…

Deep in the heart of Texas, a disaster occurred.  An employee quit.  The person who did the next Version 7 traffic log got an error.  When Debbie checked out the error, they found that all the weekday breaks had been deleted.  Debbie asked that famous question,  "Do you have yesterday's backup?"  No, and there were no other backups.  Well---fortunately Debbie was able to copy in the Saturday break schedule, which was

similar.

Don't let this be your fate.  Do a daily backup on a different disk each day.  If you don't know the proper backup procedure, call the Support line for directions.  We'd rather hear from you now than LATER…!
