You may have noticed a new look in this month's newsletter. We want to be aggressive in our marketing of the newsletter. The new format is to make it more interesting to the eye while catching the attention of the people who should be seeing the newsletter, mainly operators of the various systems. We are in the process of mailing a packet to SMARTS--Version 7 users regarding our Windows traffic program. The packet contains a demo ROM of SMARTS--the Second Generation Windows traffic system, and a guide to the ROM. It also contains a "from the heart" letter from me, urging you to convert to the Windows system sometime in the next year. If you have questions, please call.

NEW FORMAT FOR NEWSLETTER…

As you can see, our Newsletter has a new look. We hope it will be easier to read. Our biggest dilemma with the Newsletter is making sure it gets to the right people at your station. The intent is that this side is read by the traffic operators and the flip side by the SMARTCASTER operators. We ask your help in getting the Newsletter where it needs to go. Feel free to photocopy it.

For those of you still using the SMARTS DOS system, we thought you might like to see what the Order Entry screen looks like. When you install the Demo ROM you will find this screen under Orders/Entry.

A South Dakota station was hit with a virus, and in the process we found that backups were not complete. This operator will end up re-entering data and creating new months for 2001. This adds to her workload, and could have been prevented by proper backup procedure. Please take heed, and do not put yourself in this position. If you are in doubt as to proper backup
