WE'VE MOVED…
SMARTS is now located in its new quarters at 2508 West Main Street in Emmetsburg. We are mostly settled in new offices, but still doing some unpacking. For those of you who have visited Emmetsburg, the new offices are five blocks west of our former offices. They were previously occupied by a medical clinic, and we promise more pleasant experiences than the previous tenants offered! For the first time, I have a separate office, with a door, and I look forward to getting lots of work done.

We know that most of you live too far away to attend our open house for our new building, but for those of you within driving distance, we would love to have you join us for our Open House on Friday, March 24, at 10 am. SMARTS TRAINING APRIL 13-14…
And another opportunity to visit comes with the SMARTS office system spring training class. The class is scheduled on Thursday and Friday, April 13 and 14, here in our new offices in Emmetsburg. Fee is $150.00 per person, and registration deadline is April 1. We need a minimum of four people to make up the class. We will conduct classes on the Version 7 DOS system, and SMARTS – the Second Generation Windows system. If you are planning on attending, please fill out the registration form enclosed in this mailing, and return it to us with a $50 deposit by April 1, 2000. The next office training class is October 19 and 20.
WEB PAGE DIFFICULTY…
We apologize for any inconvenience you might have had accessing our home page – smartsbroadcast.com. We are switching to a new Internet Provider, and have had some difficulties in doing so. In the latest version of SMARTS—the Second Generation is an option to compress your database and put it on the web page—to make the process easy for you. However, it will not work until we get our complete service from the new Internet Provider.
LAST YEAR'S LOG…
You must delete off old logs on the Version 7 system. One of our most frequent support calls is "I transferred my log, but it is last year's log." This happens because you have not deleted old logs. Your "housecleaning" system should include deletion of logs older than 60 days. If you have a log for (example) March 15, 1999, still in your files, the part of the program that creates the Breaklog for transfer will look at it before it looks at March 15, 2000. DOS reads numbers sequentially, and results in the old log being used to create the Breaklog. Please check in ORDER ENTRY/PRINT-DOWNLOAD-DELETE for outdated logs.
Here in Northwest Iowa, we are starting to think spring. We had an operator from south Texas here last week for training, and she was hoping for snow! We told her she was the only reason we wanted snow this time of year! Best wishes for a happy spring.
