Issue 57 SMARTS Broadcast Systems May 1999
CHEERS FOR THOSE WHO DO THEIR BACKUPS EVERY DAY…
It was a dark and stormy day in Iowa, when a Nebraska station called with a rather complicated "disappearing wheel" problem. We tried a couple of fixes, which didn't do it. So, we pulled the needed information off of yesterday's backup. It fixed the problem, and life was good, all because the operator was a backup believer! More converts are welcome! CLASS OF 8… We had an exceptionally nice and instructive training class in April. There were eight trainees—two on the Windows Version of SMARTS, and six on the Version 7 DOS version. Two of the Version 7 trainees were new to the system, and the other four had some experience, so classmates learned from each other as well as from us. Debbie, Connie, Greg and I join in thanking all that came. The next scheduled class is October 14 and 15. Registration deadline is October 1.
GET INTERNET AND E-MAIL…
We urge you to get E-mail and Internet options installed on your office machine, or onto a computer networked to it. We can help you much better when you can zip your data and E-mail it to us. We can also distribute files in the same way. Please consider adding these options to your computer.
CO OP SCRIPTS…
One of the most efficient features of SMARTS is co op. The computer keeps track of times for spots and prints out the exact times and the legal certification on the affidavits and tear sheets. The computer will also print out your scripts right on the tear sheet PROVIDED you have typed in the scripts. If you are not currently using this feature, you should consider doing so – please call the Support line for instruction. We had a couple of "converts" this past month, and would like to add you to the list.
HAVE A GREAT SPRING…JAN SCHAD
PS – IT WAS NICE TO SEE SOME OF YOU AT THE NAB SHOW.
