SMARTCASTER TRAINING...

A SMARTCASTER training class is scheduled for July 21, 22, and 23, here in the home office in Emmetsburg IA. All aspects of SMARTCASTER operations will be discussed. As of this writing, two people are registered, and we need four to make up a class. Call the Support Line if you wish to register.

HOW TO PROJECT MASTERS...

We had a support call from an operator who said her work was disappearing. She was making Master level entries in future months. She would then start operating in that month, and the changes were not there. It turned out that she was making the changes, and then Projecting the Master to future months. That won’t work, because the Project option takes your designated month-usually current month-and copies it to the future months indicated in the Project Process. It overlays the Projected Master. So, it covers up changes made in the future month. It works to make changes in the current month only, and then Project the current month to future months. Or it works to not use the Project option, and go to each month separately and make future changes.

DON’T PUT COMMAS IN WHEELS...

Another customer was getting an error message while doing her log. What we found was a PSA wheel that had allowed a comma to be entered in the name field. This was causing an illegal function to come about when printing the spot Verification list. Please do not put commas or other punctuation into a Wheel entry.

GO OFF THE NETWORK BEFORE YOU BACKUP...

We are finding more and more people running into special situations when they are networked. One of these is doing a full SMARTS subdirectory backup. We have found that you must be off of the network if you are going to do a full backup. If you have trouble doing a full backup, please call the Support Line and we can give you some tips.

SG USERS WILL GET E-MAILED NEWSLETTER...

We will be providing a newsletter to users of SMARTS-the Second Generation via E-mail. If you are a SecGen customer, and have not yet sent us your E-mail address, please do so. If you are a SecGen customer and are unable to receive E-mail, please let me know. The E-mailed newsletter will address support solutions and tips relevant to the new Windows software.

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!
