REGISTRATION FORM FOR FALL TRAINING

Our next SMARTS Office Systems training class is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, October 14 and 15. It will be held here in our home office at Emmetsburg IA. Classes will be held on both the DOS and Windows versions of SMARTS. A registration form will be included in the September newsletter. Keep it in mind - we’d love to have you come. Cost is $150 per person.

IF YOU CHANGE A STOP DATE…

You might have a misconception about how SMARTS handles a change of a stop date. If you are going to change a stop date in VIEW-PRINT-DELETE-EDIT, you may have to take an extra step. If your new stop date is earlier than the one initially entered, you don’t have a problem. But if the new stop date is LATER than the initial stop date, you have to take the extra step of filling in what you want to run on each day. The system has no way of knowing what you want to run on the added days, unless you tell it.

IF YOU ARE GETTING A NEW COMPUTER…

Please give us a call if you are planning to get a new office computer. We can help you in a couple of ways:

  1. We can give you the specs on requirements for our Windows system. Even if you don’t plan to immediately go to that system, you may want to make sure your new computer is able to handle SMARTS - the Second Generation.

  2. If you are moving the DOS Version 7 of SMARTS to a new computer, we can make sure you get all the files transferred.

  3. If you are adding to your Lantastic network, we may want you to send the unit to us to configure.

  4. If you have interfaces to another digital system, or if you use another traffic system besides SMARTS, and have an Interface from us, we can tell you what has to be moved. We can also help you back up your music interface for transfer.

  5. If you are going into a Windows machine, V-7 works fine. However, printers are different. SMARTS must have an IBM Proprinter Emulation Mode capable printer. In Windows, you must install a printer driver-the correct one for your printer. You don’t just “plug it in” like you could in DOS.
Give us a call, and we’ll help you plan for a smooth transition to another computer.

Hope you’re having a good summer. Iowa is hot!-
