Magic View - Operations

To start Magic View, log in as the user 'magic' from the main console.
After a few moments the main screen will come up, and you will see the
players across the top, the log on the left, a set of user buttons below,
and the control panel on the right.

MagicView, referred to henceforth as MV, uses the same RS-HD system as the
Smartcaster. In order to keep from overriding commands that a connected
Smartcaster could be giving, the MV program will not send any commands
until you tell it to take control.

- The Smartcaster will see this and relinquish control of the system to MV.

Taking Control:

1. Select the "Util" tab of the control panel 2. Click on the red "Take Control" button. A. It will turn green, and the text will change to say "Release Control". After taking control, the "exit" button grays out, signifying that you shouldn't exit the program until you release control back to the Smartcaster. B. The left hand "cart" will have its start button begin flashing, showing that it is the next item to play. If this is not the exact position you wish to be in, scroll through the log using the scrollbar on the rigth hand side, and double-click the position to cue up.

Releasing Control:

1. Select the "Util" tab of the control panel 2. Click the green "Release Control" button. It will become red again. At this point, the exit button will "ungrey".

Setting up a Button

1. To set a button up, right click on it. A. This brings up the button setup screen. Clicking "Pick" for the Cut ID will bring up a list of all cuts in the system, which can be sorted by clicking on the columns at the top of the list. An option box at the bottom allows selecting all cuts, spots, functions or music only. B. The first time this screen is brought up, it will have to build a cut list, which may take a few moments. Subsequent uses will be much faster. To select a cut, either highlight it and click the OK button, or just double-click the cut in the list. The title will automatically be filled in on the button. You can select one of 16 colors for the text of the button, and one of many colors for the background.

Controlling Play-Through

1. When playing the log, MV can be told to play through everything, stop at the end of each break (which is where the colors on the log change), or to stop after every item. Additionally, any item can immediately be told to "stop after this" or not by the use of the "Stop After" button on the individual player boxes. When lit, the system will go into pause mode after that item plays.
